Music & Choir
So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding. 1 Corinthians 14:15
Music is an important part of our worship of God – it has the ability to lift and inspire us in a way that words alone can’t do. We have a fabulous tradition of choral singing at All Saints which stretches back for more than a century, but we also enjoy modern musical approaches too!
Musical Style
Church music now varies over a wide range of genres and styles. Here at Aston we believe in a suitable 'balance' of music styles appropriate for the service. For example on an Evensong the music will usually be very traditional and choral led whereas in an All Age Worship service the music may sometimes be piano or guitar led. Choir led communion will lean towards the traditional, whereas congregational communion will be more modern in feel. Festival services will be bright and joyous whilst services during other liturgical periods may be more thoughtful and reflective. Here at Aston we understand that music in church is there to support and enable worship appropriate to the church calendar. There is a book at the back of Aston church where people can list their favourite hymn or worship song so that we can plan it in to a service where appropriate, please do feel free to let us know your favourite hymns!
